Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 11 October 2026

1. About these Terms

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of StackTail: the StackTail apps for iPhone and Android and the StackTail web app at app.stack-tail.com (together "StackTail"). StackTail is provided by ChainCore Industries OÜ, a company registered in Estonia (registry code 17368514, Kruusa tn 3a, 10911 Tallinn, Estonia) ("we", "us", "our").

By creating an account or using StackTail you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use StackTail. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data. If you downloaded the iPhone app from the App Store, section 17 also applies. If you downloaded the Android app from Google Play, section 18 also applies.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By using StackTail you confirm that you are at least 16 and that the information you give us is accurate. If you use StackTail for a business or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms on its behalf.

3. Your account

  • You need an account with a username, email address and password to use most of StackTail.
  • Keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • Keep your email address current so we can reach you about your account and its security.
  • Tell us promptly at contact@chaincoreindustries.com if you think someone else has used your account. You can also remove linked browsers yourself and sign out on all your devices at once (web app menu, or Profile → Sign Out on All Devices in the app); resetting your password does the same.
  • We may suspend or close accounts that appear fraudulent, that breach these Terms, or that are used in a way that harms StackTail or other people.

4. Licence

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use StackTail for your personal or internal business purposes in line with these Terms: the iPhone app on Apple devices you own or control, the Android app on Android devices you own or control, and the web app in a web browser. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

You agree not to:

  • copy, modify or create derivative works of StackTail, except where the law allows it;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract the source code of StackTail, except where this restriction is not allowed by law;
  • rent, lease, sub-license, sell or otherwise commercially exploit StackTail;
  • remove or alter copyright, trademark or other notices;
  • use StackTail in breach of the law or these Terms.

5. Plans, subscriptions and credits

5.1 Free and Pro

StackTail has a Free plan and a Pro plan. What each plan includes (for example cloud backups, the web organizer, and the number of AI scan and barcode lookup credits) is shown in the app before you subscribe or buy. We may introduce features gradually, so some Pro features may reach your account later than others.

5.2 Pro subscription

  • Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play and charged to your Apple or Google account.
  • It renews automatically for the same period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel it in your Apple account settings, or in Google Play under Payments & subscriptions.
  • Pro belongs to your StackTail account, so it works on all your devices whichever store you bought it in. You manage and cancel it in the store where you bought it.
  • If your subscription ends, Pro features such as cloud backups and the web organizer stop working until you subscribe again. We keep your encrypted backups for 90 days after your subscription ends: if you subscribe again within that time, you continue where you left off. After 90 days they are deleted automatically. Your organizer stays on your phone either way.

5.3 Credits

  • AI photo scans and barcode lookups use credits. Your plan includes credits, and you can buy more as in-app purchases through the App Store or Google Play.
  • Each Pro period adds its credits to your balance. Starting, renewing or ending Pro never reduces the credits you have, including credits you bought.
  • You can see your remaining credits in the app under Settings → Credits & Usage.
  • Unused credits carry over and remain available until you use them. If a purchase is refunded, the credits it added are removed.
  • Credits have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money or transferred to another account.

5.4 Payments, refunds and prices

  • Apple or Google sells and processes all purchases and subscriptions. We never receive your payment details.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies. We cannot issue refunds ourselves; please request them from the store you bought from.
  • We may change prices or what a purchase includes. Changes apply to purchases made after they take effect. Price changes for existing subscriptions follow the rules of the store you bought from, including any notice and consent it requires.

6. Cloud backups, encryption and keys

  • Pro cloud backups are encrypted on your phone before they are uploaded, with a key that belongs to your account and never reaches us.
  • On an iPhone the key comes from your iCloud Keychain. On an Android phone it is created on the phone and kept in its protected storage. You can pass it to another phone or to a browser with a code, and the app shows you a recovery code for it.
  • Write your recovery code down and keep it somewhere safe. We cannot read your backups and we cannot recover them if you lose access to your key: that is, if none of your devices holds it any more and you don't have the recovery code. Keeping your devices, your recovery code and, where you rely on iCloud Keychain, your Apple account is your responsibility.
  • Anyone who has your recovery code can read your backups. Do not share it.
  • If you start over with a new key, earlier backup versions can no longer be opened, and your other devices and browsers need the new key.
  • With automatic syncing on, the app saves your changes and brings in changes from your other devices while it is open. You can turn this off and back up by hand.
  • We keep a limited history of earlier backup versions, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Backups are a convenience, not a guarantee: please also keep your own exports of important information.

7. The web organizer and linked browsers

  • The web organizer lets you view and, where available, edit your organizer in a web browser that you have linked with your phone.
  • Only link browsers on devices you trust. On shared or public computers, use the "only this tab" option and lock or unlink the browser when you are done.
  • A linked browser can open your organizer until the link expires (at most 30 days) or until you remove it. You can remove linked browsers at any time in the app or in the web organizer's settings.
  • When you edit your organizer on more than one device, StackTail merges the changes. If the same item was changed in two places at the same time, the most recent change wins for that item. This includes quantities: two changes to the same item's quantity are not added together. Earlier versions can be restored from the version history.
  • We may end links or require re-linking to protect your account.

8. AI features and accuracy

  • StackTail uses an external AI model to identify items in photos and suggest names, categories and other details. This needs an internet connection.
  • AI results and barcode lookups are suggestions and may be incomplete or wrong. Check them before you rely on them.
  • Do not rely on StackTail as your only record for insurance, legal, financial or safety purposes without checking the information independently.

9. Your content

  • "Your Content" means the setups, rooms, storage units, items, names, photos, notes, tags and other information you add to StackTail.
  • You keep all rights in Your Content. You allow us to store and transfer the encrypted copies of Your Content only as needed to provide backups and the web organizer to you.
  • Your Content is stored on your phone and, if you use backups or the web organizer, as encrypted copies on our servers, kept as described in section 5.2 and the Privacy Policy.
  • You are responsible for Your Content and for having the right to store the photos and information you add.
  • We are not responsible for loss of Your Content caused by deleting the app, losing or resetting your device, losing access to your encryption key, or not keeping backups.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • break any law or regulation;
  • store content that is unlawful, infringing, or that you have no right to store;
  • try to access our systems, other accounts or other people's data without permission;
  • interfere with or disrupt StackTail, our servers or networks, including by overloading them or getting around limits, credits or plan restrictions;
  • access StackTail by automated means (such as scrapers or bots) other than our apps;
  • test the security of StackTail without our written permission. If you find a security problem, please report it to contact@chaincoreindustries.com;
  • use StackTail to build a competing product or service.

11. Intellectual property

StackTail, including its design, features, text, graphics and logos, and the StackTail and ChainCore Industries names, belongs to ChainCore Industries OÜ and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of any of it to you.

12. Third-party services

StackTail relies on third parties: Apple and Google (app distribution, purchases and subscriptions; iCloud Keychain on iPhone; the barcode scanning component on Android), an AI provider (photo scanning), a product database (barcode lookups), an email provider (account emails) and a cloud hosting provider (servers, database and backup storage). The Privacy Policy names them. We are not responsible for the availability, content or practices of third-party services.

13. Availability and changes

  • We may update, change or add features at any time.
  • We may suspend or withdraw all or part of StackTail for maintenance, security or operational reasons.
  • We do not guarantee that StackTail will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free.
  • Some features need a compatible device, a current version of the app, a supported web browser and an internet connection.

14. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

StackTail is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, about StackTail or the accuracy, reliability or availability of its features.

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • we are not liable for loss of data, loss of profit, or indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, StackTail;
  • we are not liable for loss caused by your failure to keep backups or your encryption key, or by third-party services;
  • our total liability to you for any claim relating to StackTail is limited to the amount you paid for StackTail in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, or any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you.

15. Ending your account

  • You can stop using StackTail at any time and delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete Account), on our account deletion page, or by emailing us. Deletion is carried out within 48 hours and removes your account data and encrypted backups as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. Please cancel it in your Apple account settings or in Google Play.
  • We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, or where required by law. Where appropriate we will tell you first and give you the chance to export your content.

16. Changes, law and contact

  • We may update these Terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If we make important changes, we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you continue to use StackTail after they take effect, the updated Terms apply. If you don't agree, you can stop using StackTail and delete your account.
  • These Terms are governed by the laws of Estonia. This does not take away any mandatory consumer protection rights you have under the law of the country where you live. Disputes go to the courts of Estonia, unless consumer law allows you to bring them in the courts where you live.
  • Questions: contact@chaincoreindustries.com.

17. Additional terms for the App Store

If you downloaded the iPhone app from the Apple App Store:

  • These Terms are between you and ChainCore Industries OÜ only, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content.
  • Your licence to the app is limited to using it on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
  • We are solely responsible for maintenance and support of the app. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support.
  • If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the app (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses caused by a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app or your possession or use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
  • If a third party claims that the app or your possession and use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
  • You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the app, for example the terms of your mobile or internet provider.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept these Terms, Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

  • Google has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
  • Purchases and subscriptions in the Android app are sold and processed by Google under Google Play's terms, which apply to you alongside these Terms.
